"Penelope motored at her usual speed — exactly two miles below the posted limit. When she pulled up to the antique store five minutes later, she found Zara waiting for her in the back of her Model A Duesenberg touring car, the fastest most powerful machine on the road. Zara lowered her window and held a bubbling flute aloft for Penelope as the new shop owner approached the car. Penelope did her best to grasp the glass’ stem while opening the sedan door and taking a seat inside—a feat which resulted in her standing frozen and confused for a moment, then passing the glass to herself through the car window from one hand to the other, eventually managing to sit next to her best friend and clink champagne glasses with her."
